When we brought Alfie home as a ten-week old puppy in July 2013 and excited at the prospect of being able to take him out and about and explore Devon, I quickly realised that there wasn’t a ‘go to’ place where we could get recommendations, ideas and inspiration for dog friendly places to eat, drink, stay and play!
Being a Devon ‘lass’ born and bred I knew of the very local places around where we lived (since starting Doggy Devon I’ve found even more!) but I also wanted to find dog friendly places a little further afield within the county that we could explore too, combine that with knowing that there was a dog friendly pub at the end of a walk or day out, and the idea for Doggy Devon was created.
Since launching Doggy Devon via social media in January 2014, we (myself, my husband Paul and of course, Alfie) have had some wonderful days out, all based on recommendations made to us from people living in, or who visit, Devon with their dogs and these day trips are blogged in Alfie’s Adventures.
I sincerely hope that you find Doggy Devon as useful a resource for you and your four-legged friend (or friends even, as I know there are many multi-dog households!) as we do; whether it be finding a new dog friendly walk in your local area, planning a dog friendly day trip or visiting Devon as holiday-makers and exploring all the fabulous dog friendly places to eat, drink, stay and play.
Doggy Devon is constantly growing with recommendations of dog friendly places in Devon; if you know somewhere that isn’t listed or if you have any suggestions or feedback please don’t hesitate to contact me via the Contact Us page, and don’t forget that the Doggy Devon online community is very sociable too – please do post or tweet your photos of you and your dog (or dogs) out and about enjoying yourselves, after all, that’s what owning them is all about, isn’t it?
